Hello

I’m Patricia — though some friends call me Shim. It comes from the way a child might say sim (Portuguese for “yes”).

I started making worlds at 17, designing costumes and props for theatre with companies like Cão Danado, A Turma, GrETUA, and Artistas Unidos. I later wandered into film, working in wardrobe and art direction alongside Ágata de Pinho and Leonor Teles.

In 2016, I traded fabric for ink and became a tattoo artist. Since then, I’ve travelled around leaving permanent drawings on temporary humans, which is both intimate and mildly terrifying, in the best way.

When the world paused during COVID, I leaned fully into illustration. Since then I’ve collaborated with clients like Vista Alegre, APF (Associação para o Planeamento Familiar), Oli, Ambar, Bloco de Esquerda, and Herbes Folles.

Last year, I received a grant from Direção-Geral do Livro, dos Arquivos e das Bibliotecas to create a graphic novel.

Right now, I’m looking for freelance work in illustration and communication design, and for literary representation, so the many books living patiently in my drawer can finally step into the light.
